Trying To Subtitle For The First Time

So for the past day or so, I've been wanting to fansub (subtitle) episodes of The Last Leg.
This is mainly for:
1) My own enjoyment
2) For other people's enjoyment.
I've started with the first episode of the first series, at the moment I've done... 4 minutes out of 23?

I spent an hour or so doing some research into what is deemed "good subtitling", and the best way I can describe it is..
"Don't subtitle unnecessary things. (i.e actions) & be as factual as you can."
It's actually quite therapeutic to do this, and hopefully, if everything goes well, I'll have made something decent out of it, it's actually much easier than I thought it'd be..
The only thing that is hard is trying to NOT spoil the jokes with subtitles, considering it's a comedy show & timing is key, I shouldn't have to worry about it too much though.
P.S: I forgot how weird it is to look through individual frames..
Also I have no idea what I'm doing.
